Good started saw - wont last long I got this saw from big blue box store. It was "ok" saw. For the money it did its work. The 3 bad things about it: 1) the rip edge did not lock parallel to the saw, I had to use a triangle to align it correctly. 2) the numbers on the ruler while being remarkably precise, are hard to see, I had to bend down to see the numbers and wipe off the dust. 3) after 2.5 years of faithful service (not much, I do my own home improvements), the motor died... If I was a contractor - this would probably be a 6 month saw.... September 28, 2012
Nice Value, Nice Saw For the price, this saw was better than I expected with a few exceptions. Using this as the primary jobsite saw, it did most of the work we wanted. The fence does have a tendency to not lock squarely in place when clamped down and did pinch the wood as a result, however re-adjusting was simple. Taking the time to make sure that the fence was square would remedy most issues. Setting up the saw was simple enough and the metal stand is more than sturdy enough to prevent wobbling. A minor issue was with the non skid pads for the bottom of the legs, they kept falling off and would not stay on. We just removed them and used a rubber mat when needed. The motor was pretty good, but would bog down when cross cut ripping on 2x4 stock. I do not know if a different blade would help. Wood dust was an issue, it will dump all saw dust below the saw, using a catch bag system would help, maybe due to cost no vacum attachment is installed. The riving knife would not line up behind the blade no matter what we did, but this seemed to not be a big issue for most projects. All in all, not a bad saw for most projects, but if greater accuracy is needed or built in table extensions and other bells and whistles, you might want to look at the other saws, but of course expect to pay more.
