    Reliability of the "hook" base plate seems to be the only quality flaw.

    I returned the first of this sander I bought in mid May due to the base plate "hook" portion of the "hook and loop" pad attachment system detaching from the foam cushion when removing used sanding pads. It was also a previously returned item, as it turned out. I like the design and additional features of the sander so, in the event that the base plate issue is a random incident, I'll give this new one a chance. I would recommend that, as the manufacturer, you take a close look at the method/materials being used to bond the base plate components to minimize the instances of separation of these components. When you've improved the materials/workmanship referenced by this issue, I would expect each registered owner to receive replacement parts to correct the problems with their product.

    Great in Theory

    I absolutely love the way this sander can change attachments and work on various surfaces. I used it to refinish my kitchen cabinets which have a curved frame and the sander was the perfect idea. However, I have to agree with other reviews about the hook and loop detaching from the sander. When I pulled my 2nd piece of sandpaper off the base, the black part of the hook and loop came with it. I rigged it with some super glue. Also, on the curved attachment that flexes with different shapes, it is coming apart rapidly where the black hook and loop hits the plastic edges. The sandpaper lasts beyond what I expected, so the price of it does not concern me. Last but not least, before I could finish sanding the cabinets, the sander quit on me. Haven't figured out yet what is wrong, but it's quite sad that already something needs replacing/fixing. This would be a fabulous product with some tweaking. I do recommend it, but know that it's a one job product. It would have cost me more to rent one in the end.

    Trouble with Octo Sander

    I wish I'd read the review before buying this product. I love the sander itself. It's easy to handle and I like all the attachments. I don't like that I've only used it a few times since I bought it and the base plate has already snapped off because the prongs broke. I am also disappointed with the way the attachments are holding up. The velcro is coming apart from the attachment itself in several places on several attachments, causing the sandpaper to slide or not stick at all. Back to the drawing board!

    Great concept, Poor execution

    Bought my sander only 1 WEEK AGO, and I am ready to return. The attachments could be perfect for any project, but the sandpaper falls off of all the attachments as soon as the sander is started, with the exception of the extension plate. Now the latches that hook in the attachments have broken, so I cannot use that anymore either. The microfilter dust canister at the rear keeps falling off due to poor sealing. Also, the backing to some of the attachments came off when removing the sandpaper, becoming useless. I have been a Skil fan for years, and they usually serve me well, but I would not recommend this product to ANYONE. Needs to be taken back to the factory and rethought.
