Still a cut above the rest! I BECAME A CARPENTERS APPRENTICE IN 1965. Skil saws were then and, surprisingly, still are at the top of the game today. Robert Bosch can't even outdo Skil with his own signature brand. The Skil worm drive was enhanced by raw American determination from the bottom up, through many decades and happens to be just right in so many ways. Personally, I use my light Model 367 more than the rest, with typical mods of course. All my Skils (77's, 825's, 107's, 127's, and the mysterious Model R) are older than 1979, and of the all metal type. The Service Center in my area has always been able to rebuild my saws and that's what keeps me in the best ever made. For those of you in the younger set, the Mag and the Anniversary models still outdo the modern competition when it comes to framing, and I have used them on occasion when I have gone to teach roof cutting. I am glad they have not been totally viscerated yet and, if all of my Skils were destroyed, I would certainly replace with Skil brand. My older ones are the best, but the newer ones are still better than the rest. October 20, 2012
Built in china?!?!?!?? The saw that built America is now made in China?! I'm half tempted to return it. It is not as light as a mag 77, I'm almost positive, having used one for the past 23 years. And the foot is chrome aluminum?? It's a pretty saw, but I'm extremely disappointed about the china factor! I own a few Mags (all made in USA) and that's all I use, but this one will sit on the shelf, I guess. There goes your brand loyalty, Skil! FYI: I'm a framing contractor with employees who tend to use/buy the brands I use, and since all the worm drives are now made overseas, I think I'll check out that nice blue one. ~Mark (MADE IN AMERICA) June 22, 2012
