Skil Power Tools Introduces the next Generation of the X-Drive Line

February 7, 2007 - Building on the success of their X-Drive drill/driver line, SKIL Power Tools introduced the next generation of the drill/driver at the International Builder's Show in Orlando, Florida. With professional grade power and more user-friendly features, the new SKIL 2895 18V 2-Speed Drill/Driver is great for the do-it-yourselfer and professionals.

The stylish new look of the 2895 Drill/Driver is just the beginning of upgrades on this tool. Designed with the professional and serious DIYer in mind, the SKIL 2895 offers convenience features such as a keyless chuck, spring-loaded battery release, on-tool removable bit storage, battery fuel gauge and a soft-grip handle. These features, along with an on-tool bit index and a bubble level, enable the user to drill and drive accurately every time.

“X-Drive series was such a huge success with users because it was loaded with features that make sense," said Dean Peterson, product development and marketing director for SKIL Power Tools. "The 2895 continues to deliver these conveniences to our customers and is designed to give you the freedom to take on more demanding projects and applications anywhere you choose.”

The two-speed gearbox allows for 33 percent more torque and two speed ranges of zero to 450 RPMs or zero to 1400 RPMs.  The all metal gearbox and a 1.5 Ahr NiCd battery give users professional grade power at a DIY price. A 20-position clutch ring with soft-grip for easy handling ensures that the user always has the appropriate setting for each task. The 2895 cordless drill/driver couples strength with smart features and style, to help increase do-it-yourselfers' confidence to tackle even the most challenging projects in the workshop and at home.

The new SKIL 2895 Drill/Driver comes complete with two batteries, a charger and a left/right side assist handle in a durable carrying case. The 2895 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $99.99 and will be available at home improvement centers nationwide starting in May 2007.
