SKIL Battery Chargers Receive ENERGY STAR Efficiency Rating

June, 2007 – SKIL Power Tools is pleased to announce that several of their lithium ion battery chargers have earned the ENERGY STAR efficiency rating.  The ENERGY STAR efficiency rating is awarded to products that meet or exceed strict energy-efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. EPA and DOE that helps people protect the environment by highlighting energy efficient products and practices.

Energy efficient battery chargers have the capability to save Americans more than one billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy per year and over $100 million annually. ENERGY STAR battery chargers, like the ones SKIL uses, have the potential to prevent the release of millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions. On average, qualified battery chargers will use 35% less energy.

The SKIL 14.4V-Li and 18V-Li Lithium Ion Drill/Driver feature powerful motors and all metal gear trains to maximize driving power.  They both incorporate a PowerLight work light to illuminate the work area and a battery fuel gauge to allow the user to see how much power is left for the project at hand.  The 14.4V-Li and the 18V-Li Lithium Ion Drill/Drivers will be available beginning in October 2007 with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $89.99 and $99.99 respectively.
