SKIL Brings Two-Speed Addition to 18V Lithium Ion Drill/Driver Line

July 24, 2008 - Last year SKIL Power Tools led the industry by introducing three innovative lithium ion drill/drivers.  SKIL’s lithium ion technology, along with SKIL’s unique SmartCharge™ System, allows these new tools to hold a charge up to 18 months.  This year, SKIL continues to innovate its power tool offering with its most powerful model yet.  The new 2895-LI 18V Lithium Ion Drill/Driver is ideally suited for the expert DIYer who takes on major projects or the value-conscious professional who is looking for a durable tool that will perform on the job site.

The new SKIL 18V drill/driver is the optimal blend of power and comfort.  It delivers 400 in-lbs. of torque with 20+1 clutch settings so it’s ready to drill into tough material.  Features to make the job easier include a 1/2” keyless chuck which accepts a wider variety of  bits, a soft-grip ergonomic handle that enhances comfort during long projects and a side assist handle that accommodates both right-handed and left-handed users.  The tool has a removable pod that provides bit storage, a bit index and a bubble level.    

The light weight and durability of lithium ion batteries make these tools extremely popular with all users.  The battery pack on the SKIL 2895-LI is 30 percent smaller than a traditional Ni-Cd battery, and because of this technology the battery can hold its charge for up to 18 months.  That means whenever you pick up your drill/driver, it will respond to the call.  The built-in battery fuel gauge on the SKIL 2895-LI gives you an accurate read on your power level so when it’s time to get the battery charged, the one-hour SKIL SmartCharge™ system included with the drill/driver gets you back on the job in no time.

In addition, the SKIL 2895-LI 18V Lithium Ion Drill/Driver comes with two double ended bits, an on-tool bit index and a carrying case.  The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $109.99.   The 2895-LI will be available nationwide beginning fourth quarter 2008.
