Six top home framers will be chosen to join the 2008 Hall of Frame inductee class. Each member of the select group will receive a plaque in recognition of this honor, a new Mag77 SKILSAW worm drive, as well as other prizes. Nominations will be sought from individuals across the country based on who they believe to be the best framer in America.
“Since SKIL invented the worm drive SKILSAW in 1924, home framers have relied on the SKILSAW to help them build millions of homes,” said John Surane, President and General Manager of SKIL Power Tools. “We want to recognize these framers for their excellence in craftsmanship and their dedication to our tools.”
Entry forms for the SKIL Hall of Frame will be distributed at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando (February 13 – 17), at select retail locations nationwide, and via email. Entry forms can also be retrieved from the SKIL website at www.skiltools.com. Entries can be submitted either via mail (SKIL Hall of Frame, c/o Zeno, 444 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 600, Chicago, IL 60611) or e-mail at hallofframe@yahoo.com. All mail-in entries must be post-marked by July 31 and all e-mail entries must be submitted by August 1. Nominees will be judged based on the following criteria: strength of character on the job site, estimated number of houses the framer has helped build, professionalism and competency as a framer and the number of years as a home framer. Inductees will be selected by a SKIL internal judging panel and the inductee class will be announced by September 1.
Last year, SKIL introduced two new worm drive SKILSAWs, the SHD77-M and SHD77, with numerous improvements added for the user. SKIL increased the power to a 15-amp motor, and included a 24-tooth carbide blade and two-position saw hook. Continuing to provide the features users want, this year the saws will be upgraded with a new 51 degree bevel capacity, allowing users to make the wider range of cuts needed on the jobsite. The SHD77-M (also known as the MAG77) will continue to be a full two lbs lighter than the SHD77, allowing the user to work longer with less fatigue. The SHD77M and SHD77 worm drive SKILSAWs are available nationwide with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $189.00 and $169.99 respectively.
